The School of Engineering Hosts the Lebanese Electromagnetics Day
The annual event makes a debut at LAU, bringing together researchers and industry experts while highlighting students’ innovative ideas.
The LAU School of Engineering (SOE) hosted academicians and industry experts on the Byblos campus for the annual Lebanese Electromagnetics Day on June 13, 2025. The event was co-organized by three Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) joint chapters—Antennas and Propagation (AP), Microwave Theory and Technologies (MTT) and Magnetics (MAG).
In attendance were researchers, industry experts and graduate and undergraduate students from across Lebanon, who showcased and learned about the latest advancements in electromagnetics research.
Sessions by the two keynote speakers marked the event highlight.
The first, Associate Professor at the University of Jordan Yanal Faouri, discussed cutting-edge techniques for designing advanced microstrip antennas for industrial and biomedical sensing applications.
The second keynote speaker, Research Fellow at the American University of Beirut and LAU part-time faculty Rosette Maria Bichara, presented on the state-of-the-art reconfigurable antenna design for infrastructure-less environments.
The event also served as a platform for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students from various Lebanese universities to present their projects, underscoring the wealth of research excellence in the field across the country.
“Hosting this flagship electromagnetics event at LAU,” said Professor and Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Chadi Abou Rjeily, “reaffirms our commitment to academic excellence, research collaboration and fostering student innovation.” By bringing together leading national experts and young innovators, he added, the university offered students a unique opportunity to learn, engage and connect.
