As organizations navigate digital transformation, evolving regulations, and increasingly complex financial markets, demand continues to grow for professionals who can combine analytical expertise with strategic thinking.

To enhance students’ chances of employability and broaden their career path, the Adnan Kassar School of Business has launched a Master of Science in Finance and Accounting to equip them with the analytical, quantitative, and research capabilities needed to thrive in a data-driven financial world.

Designed for ambitious recent graduates and professionals seeking to accelerate or redirect their careers, the degree offers a pathway to leadership across the financial sector while opening doors to advanced research and lifelong professional growth.

“Today’s employers need professionals who understand the complete financial picture, not just one discipline,” said Dr. Mustafa Dah, associate professor and chair of the Department of Finance and Accounting. “By integrating finance and accounting, our program prepares graduates to analyze financial information, assess risk, and support strategic business decisions from a broader and more practical perspective.”

Graduates qualify for careers across the region and worldwide in banking, digital financial services, investment firms, consulting, auditing, fintech, and multinational corporations, where there is a growing demand for professionals who can blend analytical thinking with strategic decision-making, said Dr. Dah.

“What sets this program apart is its balance between academic rigor and practical application,” added Dr. Dah. “Students combine rigorous theory with advanced analytics, applied research, and real-world problem solving, ensuring they graduate ready to contribute from day one.”

Alongside core competencies in finance and accounting, the curriculum emphasizes skills that continue to grow in importance as the profession evolves, enabling graduates to remain competitive. Students strengthen their expertise in data analysis, evidence-based decision-making, and emerging topics through specialized courses that reflect the changing needs of the financial sector.

The program is also distinguished by its research-driven approach, providing a strong foundation for students interested in pursuing doctoral studies while also developing analytical and practical skills relevant to finance and accounting careers. Through advanced coursework in research methods and analytical inquiry, they learn to investigate complex financial questions, evaluate evidence, and generate meaningful insights that support informed decision-making.

For Dr. Dah, the program’s greatest strength lies in preparing graduates for their first opportunity and careers that evolve alongside the profession.

“Whether graduates pursue careers in industry or continue into doctoral research, they leave with the knowledge, confidence, and adaptability to excel in an increasingly complex financial world,” said Dr. Dah.
