Former VP and author of Sarah and Her Sisters Bob Stoddard drove over 400 miles this fall to visit the home church of Eliza D. Everett, the pioneer behind the Beirut Female Seminary – a predecessor of LAU. The First Congregational Church members in Painesville, Ohio, were amazed and inspired to learn how Everett had revolutionized female secondary education for Arabic-speaking girls in the late 19th century.
