Illness, Writing and Healing

By Luther J. Kanso

The Continuing Medical Education Office at the school of medicine inaugurated its Medical Humanities Lecture Series by hosting SoAS Assistant Professor of Creative and Journalistic Writing Sleiman El-Hajj among others to expound on the importance of humanities in the medical field. “In the absence of local stories that students can learn from or identify with,” said Dr. El-Hajj, “the need for them to narrate their personal experience about illness is all the more pressing.”
