In its first-ever ranking in the Shanghai Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU), LAU placed at No. 8 in the Arab world. This is the first time a Lebanese university has reached the 501-600 bracket in the ranking.

Published by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, a fully independent organization on higher education intelligence, ARWU rankings aim to provide an objective assessment of universities’ research performance as a benchmark of their academic strength and influence worldwide.

LAU President Michel Mawad, M.D. added that “since 2017, LAU has strategically invested in research excellence through a multifaceted approach that includes empowering faculty, attracting talent, nurturing future researchers, building capacity by investing in state-of-the-art research infrastructure, and fostering collaboration to contribute to LAU’s research mission.”
