Senior mechanical engineering students Dana Moghrabi, Michael Abou Hamra, Sana Itani, and Amir Sabek won second prize at the Lebanese Solar Energy Society’s (LSES) Engineering Students Final Year Project Renewable Energy Contest 2024 on January 27. Supervised by Assistant Professor Amne El Cheikh, they designed a photovoltaic-thermal system, integrating solar panels and thermal collectors and using machine learning for optimal pump flow and heat dissipation. Their project was LSES-funded for prototype completion and testing.
