LAU Alumni Receive US Presidential Honor
Two LAU alumni, Dr. Rafic Helou (BE ’10) and Dr. Zak Kassas (BE ’01), were awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) on January 14, the highest honor bestowed by the US government on scientists and engineers who show exceptional potential for leadership. Dr. Helou (L) is a research structural engineer at the Federal Highway Administration, and Dr. Kassas (R) is the director of the US Department of Transportation Center for Automated Vehicles Research with Multimodal Assured Navigation (CARMEN).
