LAU Faculty Ranked Globally Among the Top 2 Percent Most-Cited Scientists
Scopus Elsevier recognizes LAU faculty members from across the schools for their high-impact research.
LAU’s steady rise as a research powerhouse has once again been recognized internationally, with 28 full-time faculty members ranked among the world’s top two percent most-cited scientists in the 2025 Scopus Elsevier list. This marks a continued upward trajectory for the university, following 17 members listed in 2023 and 25 in 2024.
“Being ranked among the world’s most-cited scientists is not only a personal achievement for our faculty, but also a testament to LAU’s vision for research with lasting global impact,” said Provost George E. Nasr.
This recognition underscores LAU’s growing research impact and the international visibility of its scholars across disciplines. Faculty included in this year’s list span fields such as health sciences, engineering, computer science, and business, reflecting the breadth and depth of LAU’s academic excellence.
The prestigious list is published annually by Elsevier, using a methodology developed by researchers at Stanford University. It draws on standardized citation metrics from Elsevier’s Scopus database to identify the world’s most influential researchers.
The ranking identifies the top two percent of scientists worldwide based on their research impact and citation influence across 22 fields and 174 subfields. With nearly 6.5 percent of its full-time faculty ranked among the world’s most-cited scientists, the university looks forward to further supporting its scholars in producing high-quality, high-impact work that serves both Lebanon and the global community.
