LAU’s Research Excellence Shines: 25 Faculty Members Ranked Among World’s Top Scientists

Scopus Elsevier recognizes LAU faculty members from across the schools for their high-impact research.

LAU continues its ascent as a research institution, with 25 full-time faculty members, up from 17 last year, recently ranked among the world’s top 2 percent scientists by Scopus Elsevier. This achievement highlights LAU’s successful journey from a primarily teaching institution to a major research hub with a significant impact on sustainable development.

LAU’s dedication to research is evident in its strategic investments, from a robust Intramural Research Fund to establishing innovative centers and fostering collaborative initiatives. These concerted efforts have significantly boosted the volume of high-quality research published in prestigious journals.

The 2024 Scopus Elsevier list, based on standardized citation metrics, features 25 full-time faculty members across various disciplines. This recognition, for the fourth consecutive year, underscores the caliber of LAU’s faculty contributions to their respective fields.

The 25 recognized faculty members represent a diverse range of schools within LAU:

School of Arts and Sciences (8): Professor Faisal Abu-Khzam, Professor Dumitru Baleanu, Associate Professor Sleiman El Hajj, Dr. Marc Fakhoury, Professor Seifedine Kadry, Assistant Professor Khalil Mershad, Professor Azzam Mourad, and Assistant Professor Zulqurnain Sabir.
