LAU Honors Its Alumnae Champions of Women’s Empowerment
LAU and its Alumni Association present the Annual Alumni Awards to Christina Khater (BA ’06) and Hiba Yazbeck (BS ’97) in recognition of their contributions to advancing women’s leadership through business and health advocacy.
Each year, LAU’s Alumni Relations Office, the Alumni Association Board, Student Development and Enrollment Management, and Academic Affairs come together to honor graduates who have made a lasting mark, whether through professional excellence or meaningful contributions to their communities and their mother institution.
This year, that recognition shines on two exceptional women: Entrepreneur Christina Khater (BA ’06), founder and CEO of KristiesLab, and community leader and health advocate Hiba Yazbeck (BS ’97), who will receive the Alumni Achievement and Alumni Recognition Awards, respectively, during LAU’s Alumni Homecoming Dinner on July 15, 2025 at the Beirut campus.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Christina and Hiba,” noted Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations Abdallah Al Khal. “Their paths reflect the values LAU strives to nurture in its students: leadership, service, and impact.”
Khater has built a career in advertising, experiential marketing, and event planning across the MENA region. As president of Unconditional Lebanon, an organization dedicated to women’s empowerment, she also works to equip women with the tools they need to thrive, providing leadership training, mentorship, and support for entrepreneurial ventures.
Yazbeck, meanwhile, has focused her efforts on health advocacy through initiatives like the Courage to Fight Breast Cancer campaign and the Jana Fund. She has also mentored students, particularly in the areas of women’s health and access to education.
Commenting on her selection, Khater said she was “deeply touched and honestly overwhelmed” by the honor, calling it “both humbling and heartwarming” to be recognized by her alma mater, which has played a meaningful role in shaping who she is.
Yazbeck echoed this sentiment, sharing that being acknowledged by LAU is a moment she will always treasure. She dedicated the award to everyone in the LAU family who, she said, is “committed to serving with purpose and heart.”
The ceremony will take place as part of LAU’s wider alumni homecoming celebrations, which bring together alumni from around the world to reconnect and celebrate the achievements of their peers.
