LAU Jr. NBA Teams Win Silver and Bronze in Abu Dhabi

Representing Lebanon, a select group of young athletes come out victorious at the Jr. NBA Europe and Middle East Tournament.

The girls’ team had faced off with their Spanish counterparts in the final game and ended up coming in second place at the tournament.

Young men and women of the LAU Jr. NBA took to the podium at the Jr. NBA Europe and Middle East Tournament, held from August 15th till the 20th in Abu Dhabi. Representing Lebanon, they had competed against teams from Germany, Spain, Qatar, England and the UAE.

The girls’ team won silver while the boys’ team grabbed bronze at the regional tournament, which is one of the association’s Global Championships for basketballers under 15 years of age.

A number of players received individual recognition at the tournament as follows:

Lara Nakib and Marc Kayal landed spots as the tournament’s top 5 performers.

Nour Hoteit won the Skills Challenge.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams were formed by selecting top performers who played in past LAU Jr. NBA editions and practiced for 10 weeks under the guidance of LAU coaches Nelly Boustany and George Slaibi. They were accompanied by Senior Athletics Supervisor Joseph Nar and Lead Athletics Coordinator Mohamad Mawas, who managed the delegation.
