Economics Under Deep Uncertainty

By Silvana Ghoson

Opening the spring semester of the Beirut Economics Research Seminar Series, co-organized by LAU and AUB, a talk by Bernard Sinclair-Desgagne, emeritus professor of economics at Université Côte d’Azur, was held on January 28, 2026, at the LAU Beirut campus. Titled Foreseeing Unknown Unknowns, the discussion explored “unknown unknowns”—unforeseen events that cannot be predicted or assigned probabilities yet can often prove decisive in business, economics, public policy, innovation, climate adaptation and security.
