Yasmina El Zein (BA ‘25), a graduate in multimedia journalism, recently made the department of Communication, Mobility and Identity and the university at large proud thanks to her research and insight: she received the Award for the best BA Capstone Project from AREACORE in Honor of Lina Ben Mhenni for her research paper titled “Coverage of the 2019 Lebanese Protests: A Political Economy Approach to Hegemonic Media.” El Zein’s paper offers a critical analysis of media power, ideology and representation during a defining moment in Lebanon’s recent history.
