Following two years of rigorous preparation, the LAU Academy of Continuing Education (LAU ACE) has marked a national milestone by becoming the first such institution in Lebanon to be accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

The LAU ACE learner-centered approach, strong quality assurance processes, measurable learning outcomes, and commitment to excellence were key strengths that contributed to this achievement, which will be valid for the next five years.

In preparation for earning this accolade, LAU ACE completed a comprehensive self-study, presented extensive documentation, and engaged IACET assessors through interviews and a virtual site visit.

As an IACET-accredited provider, LAU ACE will build on its 35 years of experience as it joins an elite global network of institutions committed to internationally recognized standards for the design, delivery, and evaluation of continuing education and training. 

The academy will also be authorized to award Continuing Education Units (CEUs)—internationally recognized units that document participation in professional development activities— further enhancing its global credibility, programs, and credentials.

For LAU ACE Lead Director George Obeid, achieving this high-level stamp of approval during one of Lebanon’s most challenging periods makes it all the more meaningful.

“This is a milestone for LAU, our learners, and the future of continuing education in Lebanon,” he said, hailing the achievement as “a testament to the resilience, dedication, and collective efforts of our faculty, staff, trainers, partners, learners, and every member of the LAU community who contributed to making this vision a reality.”
