The School of Engineering Celebrates Student Excellence
The promising graduates were commended for their innovative spirit, talent, and sense of citizenship.
Outstanding engineering seniors took the podium on June 2, 2026, at the fourth annual School of Engineering Student Award Ceremony, which celebrated and rewarded innovative capstone design projects, academic excellence, and community impact.
Thanks to the generous support of former LAU Trustee and CEO of Dubai Contracting Company Abdallah Yabroudi, who contributed more than $10,000 in cash prizes, the students were rewarded as follows:
The Hassan Abdallah Yabroudi Capstone Poster Winner Award went to the student team comprising Maroun Eid, Carmen Merheb, Serge El Skaf, and Elian Rezk. They had pitched MYOSENSE, a wearable, low-cost device that uses electrical impedance tomography to detect muscle injuries.
The Hassan Abdallah Yabroudi Capstone Poster Finalist Awards went to seven student teams as follows:
- Roni Daou, Kevin Aoun, and Chihabeddin Azzam for the project titled HELIN.
- Sleiman El Hajj, Mohamad Fawaz, Ali Issa, and Ali Yassine for the project titled WALADI.
- Nour Hamdar, Joe Rizkallah, Rayan Hachem, and Alexandre Masaad for the project titled Flip-Top Cap Sorting Machine
- Karim Ghorabi, Ghenwa Makki, Georgio Nassar, and Joya Sakr for the project tiled TREMO
- Ahmad Al Khatib, Habib Hamdoun, and Mohammed Marchud for the project titled JALES
- Yorgo El Homsi, Caren Hachem, Bouchra Harmouch, and Christina Kamel for the project titled NEURIVA
- Lea El Hachem, Teya Chibli, Karim El Zarif, and Sarah Bou Saab for the project titled Design of a Decision Support System for Employee Scheduling in a F&B Company
The Abdallah Yabroudi Community Impact Honor Award went to the multidisciplinary student team comprising Nour Alayli, Karl Baroud, Georges El Achkar, Bechara Raad, and Valentina Zablith, who worked closely with the Monsef Municipality to design engineering solutions for real-world challenges.
- The Abdallah Yabroudi Leadership Award went to civil engineering seniors Jad El Jurdi and Jana Rima.
- The Abdallah Yabroudi Academic Achievement Award went to civil engineering seniors Assaad Assaf and Maria Ishac.
- The Abdallah Yabroudi Sports Shield Award was granted to civil engineering senior Anthony El Korab.
- The Abdallah Yabroudi Citizenship Torch Award was granted to Daniel Baddour and Jad El Jurdi.
- The Abdallah Yabroudi Professional Excellence Award was granted to Assaad Assaf and Daniel Baddour.
This year, the student engineers raised the bar in community service, innovation, and academic output. They were commended by the SOE Dean’s office and their faculty for upholding the school’s values and illustrating job-market readiness and sought-after skills that address universal societal and environmental challenges.
