According to Dr. Aad (center), the projects helped students develop “a deeper appreciation of the university’s legacy and their role in it,” while building their confidence, soft skills and their sense of pride.
The students produced podcasts and video interviews with vice presidents, deans, faculty, staff, alumni and university partners from other institutions to relay LAU’s story from different angles.

LAU’s 100 years of rich history have inspired books and tributes, awakened alumni memories and put in motion a series of themed events that will continue to populate an extraordinary year for the university.

Students at the Adnan Kassar School of Business (AKSOB) did not shy away from these efforts. Since the centennial-year launch earlier this semester, management students took the reins in developing their own initiatives to learn about and commemorate LAU’s legacy, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor and alumna Samar Aad (BS ’98).

Since most of her classes include a final-project component, Dr. Aad seized the opportunity to engage her students in marking the milestone, in line with her vision to foster creativity and collaboration.

The students immediately split into teams to brainstorm, craft and execute their plans using digital resources and social media.

Their work included podcasts and video interviews with vice presidents, deans, faculty, staff, alumni and university partners from other institutions to relay LAU’s story from different angles. Examples of the students’ projects can be viewed on the Dardashé On Campus podcast and the 100 Years For You Instagram page.

“The students curated content that highlighted LAU’s transformative impact over the years,” explained Dr. Aad, adding that the experience helped them develop “a deeper appreciation of the university’s legacy and their role in it,” while building their confidence, soft skills and their sense of pride.

The varied initiatives also increased their awareness of the centennial year as they became more informed about LAU’s history, achievements and vision for the future, she added.

“This initiative,” said Dr. Aad, “aligns with our commitment to providing students with transformative experiences that extend beyond the classroom, empowering them to become active participants in LAU’s centennial celebrations.”

It further bolstered their sense of unity and belonging to their alma mater, she concluded, while showcasing their creative potential, as they were encouraged to amplify their work on LinkedIn, where it can be viewed by using the hashtags #lauITM211, #lauMGT201 and #lauMGT401.
